Inamorati 5.0 Measurements

*Note that the doll on the left is Inamorata 4.0. There have been tiny changes to sculpture and joint mechanics in the new 5.0, but they do not affect measurements.

*The height is measured here with standard feet that come with the doll: the boy in flat feet and the girl in high heels. Naturally the feet affect height, tallest being the ballet on pointe.

Comparison between Pashapasha mini, Inamorato 5.0 and Inamorata 4.0.

The photo above shows Inamorata is trying on the new larger feet that can wear PP mini shoes. Notice that this doesn't work the other way around as Inamorato feet have shorter toes than PP feet. For comparison you can also see the original smaller Inamorata feet next to the new larger ones.

When I sculpted the first Inamorata in 2012, I had a collection of Sybarite dolls and wanted to share their shoes. It bothered me that the feet were disproportionately small, but tiny feet were an industry standard then, set by the early Barbie dolls. I'm happy that nowadays most art dolls have realistic sized feet, but I struggled to find a way to change Inamorata feet. I didn't want to do a disservice to the long time collectors with a collection of shoes. With the new Inamorato I can introduce realistic sized feet that are compatible and sold separately for the Inamorata as well. This way collectors have the choice of size and maximum compatibility to share shoes with other 16" dolls, Pashapasha minis, Popovy, Sybarites, Numina, etc.

My own collection has always been very eclectic. I tried to collect at least one doll of every similar sized resin doll. In the early 2010's there were only a handful of dolls so that seemed doable, but now the market has exploded and I cannot even count all the different wonderful dolls out there. But styling dolls for display and photoshoots is my favourite aspect of doll collecting, so being able to share a wardrobe and shoes is pure joy !

NAMING OF THE INAMORATI (linguistic and etymological quandaries)

When I chose the name Inamorata (beloved) for my dolls over a decade ago, I did it with the masculine form Inamorato in mind. It was just in case I would one day make a male doll. Now I have, but instead of clear cut hunk of a man, I made a doll parts system that supports building a doll with several gender expressions. A non binary doll with a binary name. As a linguist this bugs me to no end. There is the word inamorate (enamoured; in love), but it is more a verb, a state of being, rather than a person. So perhaps I should use the plural form Inamorati to be more gender neutral.
